Arizona now has 1,598 reported cases of COVID-19, with 32 deaths

Arizona

Arizona now has 1,598 reported cases of COVID-19, with 32 deaths from the disease caused by the coronavirus, state health officials revealed Thursday morning.

That’s an increase of 185 cases and three deaths from the previous morning.

The Arizona Department of Health Services has been providing daily case and testing updates on its website each morning.

The totals in Wednesday morning’s state report were 1,413 positive tests and 29 deaths, with 21,058 tests having been given. That case total was an increase of 124 from the previous morning.

The total of tests given was not updated from the previous day when the case and death totals were reported Thursday.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy, Stay Connected” executive order to combat the spread of COVID-19 went into effect Tuesday at 5 p.m. and is active until at least the end of April.

Nationally, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported 3,603 deaths from more than 186,000 COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday’s daily report.

According to data compiled and regularly updated by Johns Hopkins University, there were more than 965,000 cases and 49,000 deaths globally as of Thursday morning.

To help contain the spread of COVID-19 health officials have issued the following recommendations:

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
  • Refrain from touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Don’t make close contact with sick individuals.
  • If you are sick, stay home.
  • Cover coughs or sneezes with a tissue and throw the tissue away.
  • Clean and disinfect objects that are frequently touched.
