Halloween Candy: Most Popular In Arizona

Arizona

Few nights are more exciting for kids than Halloween. Make sure you’re prepared with the right candy.

ARIZONA – Experienced trick-or-treaters know certain houses just have better candy than others in the neighborhood. These pros also know that certain houses give out apples and Good & Plenty for some inexplicable reason. Homeowners eager to please the costumed young’uns can be prepared as a recent study found the most popular Halloween candy in every state.

CandyStore, an online candy retailer, found each state’s favorite Halloween candy by combing through 11 years of sales data, and focusing on the months leading up to the holiday.

The company also verified the conclusions with major candy manufacturers and distributors, and presented the information of each state’s three favorite Halloween candies and how many pounds of the tasty treats were sold last year.

The most popular Halloween candy in Arizona in 2018 was a new state favorite, Hot Tamales, which sold over 750,322 pounds.

Hot Tamales are hot cinnamon chewy candies.

The second-place finisher in our state was Snickers, with 741,779 pounds sold, and Hershey’s Kisses were named the third most-popular Halloween candy for residents of Arizona, with 611,877 pounds sold.

The first-place finisher in Arizona in 2017 was Snickers.

Skittles was the most popular Halloween candy across the country, with the ever-beloved M&M’s, Snickers, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Starburst rounding out the top five.

While the above candies dominated a large section of the country, Jolly Ranchers made a surprise appearance as the favorite treat in Georgia and Utah.

Which has to leave you feeling a little sorry for children in the Jolly Rancher hotbeds.

Ninety-five percent of the 179 million Americans who celebrate Halloween will purchase candy for the holiday, according to the study. On average they will spend $27, and nearly 25 percent of all those purchases are made online.
