Have a Great Halloween Time with These Halloween Horror Movies!

Halloween has a long history of being associated with movies. Over the past few decades, there have been numerous movies released on Halloween with a “horror” theme.

Scream (1996)

This movie is scary in a completely different way from the others. “Scream”, with its mix of horror, mystery, and comedy is one of the most popular Halloween movies ever made. The movie featured a masked killer that targeted teenagers and included several scary scenes throughout the movie. 

The movie received good reviews from critics but did not do well in its initial release. However, it was re-released on DVD over a decade later and became a huge success with young adults. 

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a Tim Burton animated musical that takes place around Halloween. This film includes Jack Skellington, a skeleton with no concept of death, who accidentally stumbles upon Christmastown and decides to take matters into his own hands. 

This is another popular Halloween movie that was released on DVD more than a decade after its initial release.

Friday The 13th (1980)

“Friday The 13th” is a slasher film that was directed by Sean S. Cunningham and written by Victor Miller. Although the original version of the movie only had a limited theatrical release, it inspired a long series of sequels that spanned from 1980 to 2009.

Halloween (1978)

The film also featured Halloween features Michael Meyers, a serial killer who escaped from a psychiatric hospital and began hunting the family members of the doctor that previously treated him. This is another popular addition to the long series of Halloween movies.

Halloween (2007)

This remake of the popular “Halloween” movie in 1978 was extremely well received by critics. Directed by Rob Zombie, the film follows Laurie Strode as she comes face-to-face with Michael Meyers for a showdown. 

Although fans of the original were quite critical about this new version, it did receive several good reviews from critics and remains one of the more popular Halloween movies for those that want to watch a horror movie on October 31st.
